The Story of Nishi and Kanishk
Both Nishi and Kanishk are ardent followers of the Dil To Pagal Hai Theory- Sab ke Lie Koi Na Koi Bana Hai. And this loving couple were the subject of my candid wedding photography in Kolkata. The opportunity to shoot a Marwari wedding photography is hard to miss. Bengali wedding photography in Kolkata is always fun but then Marwari wedding photography is about all that jazz and mehendi and sangeet that we all miss. So, introducing the bride and the groom, Nishi and Kanishk.
It is a typical arranged marriage. I did a pre-wedding shoot with them too just to get some nice shots of those moments when they are just opening up to each other. Such shoots are part of candid wedding photography packages and I have shot many couples. Nishi and Kanishk too were a beautiful couple but very shy and reserved.
Engagement – The First Snaps of The Marwari Wedding Photography
The engagement was the first stepping stone in Nishi and Kanisk’s wedding. Both the bride and the groom has loving family members and relatives who were always by their side. The engagement was followed by the Ganpati Shthapana and Griha shanti ceremony the next day. I was there to capture Pithi Dastoor, Mehfils, Mahira Dastoor Custom and Kanishk’s Janev too.
The Palla Dastoor and Baraat – The Next Steps Of the Candid Wedding Photography in Kolkata
Amidst all the glory, Nishi’s would be in-laws brought her the clothes, jewelry and presents from the bridegroom which she is to wear for the wedding. Nishi looked nothing less than a Rajput princess in her red wedding lehenga choli, rakhri (jewelry for the forehead), ear danglers, timaniyaan, chooda (a set of ivory and gold bangles), gold anklets and gold toe-rings and stone-studded nose-ring.
The eternal wait got over in the evening when Kanishk in his achkan and jodhpuris came down on his white horse. After the ‘toranachar’ got over, the wedding rituals followed. Brought in by her friends and other ladies, Nishi stole a quick glance of her handsome groom just before their eyes met for the var mala. With everyone’s blessings, both Nishi and Kanishk started a beautiful journey together.
